We have reached a point as a community where we are
no longer able to reach our full potential with kids due to
a lack of space on Sunday morning. Adding space for kids instead of an auditorium for mainly adults ensures that Neighborhood Church remains committed to being a church that is For Visalia. There is still room for adults on Sunday morning; so building a new auditorium would not fill our current need.
We are building now because we need to; not building for anticipated future growth. In the last two years, Neighborhood Kids has grown from an average weekly attendance of 264 to 466. This represents growth that has already happened. We are out of space.
We will get a loan and build right away. We hope to
break ground in mid-2017 with a project timeline of
9-12 months. Our goal through For Visalia will be to
pay off our loan in 5-7 years. The primary reason for
moving so quickly is to address our current space needs.
The exterior of the buildings will have a similar look as our current facility but will not be tilt-up concrete. The main hallway in our Neighborhood Kids area will extend to the space between the two new buildings. We are working with PlainJoe Studios, an award-winning design group, to design our exterior and interior kids environments.
April 2, 2017, is an important date. On that day, a one-time For Visalia offering will take place. It’s also Commitment Sunday, when individuals and families will make pledges to be given monthly over a three-year period.
It won’t. We will continue to fund our ministries and missions through regular giving. Our commitment to inspire people to live like Jesus locally and globally will always remain.
Since 2006, we have been committed to partnering with our “Houston family” to make their neighborhood better. Any project we are doing to benefit kids on our campus should naturally include our “adopted” kids as well.
Visalia Unified School District is providing recycled lighting from recent campus solar upgrades so our costs are kept under $30,000.
It all goes back to planning. You deserve for the team at Neighborhood Church to be wise stewards of the resources invested here. Pledging helps us know if we have enough money in the months ahead to move forward.

This is based on a principle Jesus taught in Luke 14:28: “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?”

We are currently out of space in most of our environments and making the most of space we do have. Your pledge will help us implement the principle Jesus spoke about in Luke 14:28.

The best way to know is through prayer and planning.
2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “Each of you should give what you
have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Resources are available at forvisalia.org and on Sunday mornings at Neighborhood to help you and your family discern and plan how generous you can be. Above all, we want you to be excited about what you are able to give regardless of the amount.
None of us know what’s in the future. You may be blessed financially beyond your imagination and be able to increase your pledge. Or you may be taken through trials that challenge your resources and have to lower or cancel your pledge. Our hope is that you can remain faithful with your pledge but we also understand challenging circumstances can change your commitment.
Yes. Your regular Giving to the Mission supports the general operation of Neighborhood Church while your For Visalia pledge fulfillment goes directly to the project and construction costs.
A pledge amount total is for the entire three-year campaign.
